Starting 1st June, 2026
Economics Optional is considered one of the most logical, analytical, and scoring subjects in the UPSC Civil Services Examination. The syllabus is divided into two papers — Paper I focuses on core economic theories and concepts, while Paper II covers the dynamic aspects of the Indian Economy. The subject also offers substantial overlap with General Studies Paper III (Indian Economy), as well as significant relevance in the Prelims and the Personality Test (Interview).
Over the last five years, the Economics Optional has maintained an impressive average success ratio of nearly 11–12%. At Bhargavaya Academy, the Economics Optional Foundation Course is conducted under the expert guidance of Jatin Bharadwaj Sir, a highly respected faculty member, (Assistant Professor, UGC-NET JRF Topper and Economics Optional Topper), with more than 7 years of rich teaching experience.
